Need of Science Education
Dear all
Having been engazed in curriculum analysis and development of framework these days I have been reading a lot about different policy and position papers pertaining to what should be the aim of science education and the pedagogic approach too, that is, how it should be taught or facilitated for that matter in formal classroom. And ofcourse I have been reading many theoretical papers too about the need and aim of science education.
Now I was just trying to ponder on very personally in my own way what is the 'need' of science education for a learner; and it occurred to me that the whole universe we are living in is actually a whole consisted of interconnected parts. The entire gamut of surrounding,activities, the beings- living and non living actually create a web. And there is an inherent causality pervasive in the interdependent components of the universe. And I believe foremost need of science education has to be to make the learner understand, explore and delve into this fascinating and magnificient web of causality;
With the understanding of this causality of the phenomena I believe it would help the learner having the understanding of contents taught in classroom and her experience around not a piecemeal but in a holistic manner.
would like to have your thought on it too....
Thanks/Regards
